Student Hosting 2010

Two days ago I got a call from my former professor at UNLV. When I was in his web and object oriented programming courses I had an idea to provide access to a real hosting environment for other students. This will also provide me with some users to test how to manage multiple clients.

The funny thing is that Ranel, my professor, had crossed my mind maybe a few weeks ago. I was thinking that I should contact him to see how his projects are going and if I could play a role in helping out the class.

So the answer is yes. I have launched another hosting platform for this very reason. So, please fill out the form here http://twistedpairwd.com/free-hosting-students if you are interested. I will email you your access information over the weekend and get you all set up for hosting your school projects. The system is not automated so I will be in contact if i need anything else from you.

Thank you and enjoy.

To MSQL or MySQL

As our quest for world domination continues, we have teamed up with some professors from UNLV's Management in Information Systems department by allowing their students free access to hosting on Twisted Pair's platform.

My latest connection yielded a request for MSQL server space. I would love to donate this service as well, but the company we buy bandwidth and server space from, mosso.com, charges extra for hosting an MSQL server. Is this a normal practice among reseller hosting services?

Here is a screenshot of the client setup process with mosso:

I have a tough time believing that this service constitutes an extra 5 to 10 bucs a month, when we are paying much more than that for their service.

We are thinking about changing to another VPS host that offers reselling accounts. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thank you.

Free Hosting, Free as in Beer

Currently Twisted Pair is myself and my partner Range. We have quickly realized that for Twisted Pair to become a web development company that can sustain itself and become highly productive, we need more developers.

We are in the process of building a network of developers that will help benefit Twisted Pair Clients. One of the ways we are doing this is to open our hosting platform to young students and giving them the opportunity to bang away on their respective projects using our servers.

This benefits the students by giving them real world experience in dealing with hosting issues by giving them a live place on the web for their projects to live and grow. This also allows students to see if web development is something that they would want to pursue as a professional carreer choice.

It is in our best interest to give away free access to students because it gives us access to some young developers. We are striving to build strong relationships with young developers that could lead to benefits on their side as well as for Twisted Pair.

So, if you are a student and aspire to learn more about web development, be sure to grab some free hosting now while supplies last. Feel free to drop us a line and let us know how we are doing.

Thanks and goo luck.
